About the object
Morat depicted the castle ruins on numerous occasions. In this sheet, which is dated 1823, the observer's point of view is greatly elevated, capturing the view into the valley - not just with a telescope. Morat has noted down the names above the settlements in the valley, presumably in order to be able to identify these places at a later stage.
