About the object
The altarpiece comes from the Adelhausen Dominican convent in Freiburg. This explains the presence of three Dominican saints (Dominic, Thomas Aquinas, St Peter Martyr) who worship Christ on the far right as a Man of Sorrows. In the main scenes, the central topics of the history of salvation are depicted: annunciation, birth, crucifixion, resurrection and ascension. On the left, John the Baptist and St Paul.
