Building Plan of the Freiburg Minster Tower, etwa mittleres Drittel 15. Jahrhundert

About the object

The plan shows the western aspect of the tower of Freiburg Minster. It corresponds largely to reality, and has been interpreted either as a building survey or as a copy of an actual construction plan. Only the lower part shows a picture gallery instead of an open entrance. The plan belongs to the context of Matthäus Ensinger's work, who was a master builder in Bern from 1420 and in Ulm from 1446. The stained appearance and partial damage to the parchment were caused by moisture. (Joint property of the Ernst von Siemens Art Foundation, the Archdiocese of Freiburg and the Municipal Museums of Freiburg)
