Architectural model

This model is a gift from Dr. Hugo Ficke, who was an honorary museum director from 1896. Around the turn of the nineteenth century, models and miniatures were highly prized on the western art market and in museums. They served as illustrative material for cultures in distant countries. Whether this miniature was a commissioned work for the collector, for sale or actually made for educational purposes is unknown.
