This bearded man with shoulder-length hair poses confidently for his portrait. As a sign of his rank, he is wearing a long chain of office over his embroidered black doublet. The gold earring in his left ear is a symbol of rank reserved for the nobility and the bourgeois upper class of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries.
