Caroline Countess von Plater (1807-1877) was an actress during the Biedermeier period. She was painted here at the age of eighteen. At that time, she had already celebrated her acting debut and performed at the Berlin Hofbühne. Only a few years later she was elevated to the rank of countess and henceforward able to refer to herself Countess Montgomery.
