About the object
The portrait of the last Holy Roman Emperor, Franz Joseph Karl von Habsburg-Lothringen (1768-1835), depicts him in profile. The inscription below the portrait dates it to the time after his abdication in 1806. Franz II abdicated the Emperorship, but remained King of Bohemia, Croatia and Hungary until his death.
