Elisabeth (Lisette) Caroline Thomassin, née Rodeckher von Rotteck (b. c. 1833) made the pencil drawing of the allegorical figure of “La peinture” as a preliminary study for a larger work. The young woman is holding a palette and brushes and is fashionably dressed, her luxuriant hair tied up with ribbons.
