Three-quarter Length Portrait of Countess Crescence Széchenyi, née von Seilern and Aspang, 1815 - 1825
About the object
A romantic love story connects Crescence von Seilern and Aspang (1799-1875) with the Hungarian state reformer, István Széchenyi. Still married to somebody else at the time, the countess entered into a lasting relationship with him. A memorial plaque in Budapest commemorates the Austro-Hungarian noblewoman.
