Alexandre Clément
Tulipe falls over his broken arrow, fainting, in pain, 1796
About the object
The scene of a mixed wedding party illustrates Vadé's poem »La Pipe cassée« (The Broken Whistle). Anecdotal occurrences from the life of the Parisian dockworkers and their wives are described in four songs, partly in the language of the Parisian underclass. The elaborate colour print emphasises the popular generic character.
