About the object
The iron bracelet consists of ten rectangular decorative elements connected by small bars. The plates are adorned with alternating wreaths of leaves or concentric squares. The wreaths of leaves are inlaid with Greek crosses, which were originally filled with a ceramic flux. The corners were inlaid with brass. Jewellery played an important role in everyday life as well as in the Egyptians' ideas of the afterlife. Both women and men wore jewellery. It is certain that the bracelet was worn by the deceased during his lifetime and was placed in his grave in Karara as a personal possession. The cross symbolism indicates that the owner of this bracelet was a Christian.
