About the object
Written sources provide details about the date and the original use. The book covers are from the Minster treasure. They once adorned two books, which were carried on the Corpus Christi procession. One of the books (book cover depicting the coronation of the Virgin) contained the epistles, the other (book cover with crucifixion and apostolic symbols) the gospels sung at the station altars.
