St. Wendelin, 19. Jahrhundert
About the object
St. Wendelin was the patron saint of country people, herdsmen, shepherds and their children. A tough life full of hard work and privation. The cattle had to be protected, fed and cared for. Pastures were often barren and on steep ground. The little shepherd children were often exposed to the elements without protection. St. Wendelin would hold his hand over these children to protect them from harm.
