Chalice

Rocaille ornaments, flowers and ears of corn cover the partly embossed surface of the ciborium from the Ursuline convent in Freiburg. The upper part of the cup is the only section that is smooth. The hallmark - a barely perceptible, small silver stamp with initials - provides detail about the artist's identity: the Augsburg silversmith Berdolt was one of the best master craftsmen of his era and created an extensive oeuvre.
