About the object
The sculpture of Apollo, god of light and the arts, rises majestically. The artist’s depiction on the right visualises the study of antiquity. On his trip to Italy, Goltzius studied the ancient marble sculpture, which was already in the Statues Court of the Belvedere in Rome at the time.
