The motif of Ginevra de' Benci by Leonardo da Vinci, which has been copied in watercolour, is freed from its cultural and historical context and placed in a universal context. Herbert Maier's project "who we are" is dedicated to the question of human identity. In his Visual Library, Maier has included images that have been stored in memory as individual or collective cultural legacies. The result is a cultural history of humanity from the perspective of a contemporary painter.
