About the object
Freiburg, Dicken (= ¼ guilder) from 1503, in accordance with the coinage treaty of the Rappen Coinage League of 1498, with the emblem of the city mint (eagle's or raven’s head) on the obverse and the representation of the enthroned Madonna with child, patron saint of the Minster, on the reverse. Coins of the same type were minted in the other mints of the Confederation - Basel, Breisach, Colmar and Thann.
