Dagger

About the object

Decorative bone daggers invariably had a special meaning in New Guinea. They were used in combat, but also on more peaceful occasions. At ceremonial harvest festivals, they are still used to cut up food, such as taro or yams. The daggers are still highly prized and handed down from generation to generation.
