“Imperial Windows”: Maximilian I and Philip the Handsome with Saints George and Andrew, 1526
About the object
The ruling House of Habsburg donated the windows for the two choir chapels in the apex of the new Minster choir. Two of them depict Emperor Maximilian († 1519) and his son King Philipp I of Spain († 1506) venerating their personal saints. Copies now replace the originals in the Minster.
