About the object
Based on his type and features (dark beard, receding hairline), it could be Paul. The Sword of Justice in his left hand would have been the attribute needed to complete the portrait, with which the apostle was beheaded. The figure is from Zuzenhausen near Heidelberg and will have been formerly in an altar shrine.
