Two angels holding Medallions with the Ascension of Christ and the Assumption of the Virgin, 1620/30
About the object
The two angels are kneeling on a pedestal, each holding a framed medallion above their heads. One shows the Assumption of Mary, the other the Ascension of Christ. The sculptures were originally located inside the church and appeared as corbels on pillars or walls. Since the angels relate to one another, they were certainly not hung far apart.
