About the object
The southern choir portal of the Freiburg Minster was completed around 1360/70 just before the extensive hiatus between periods of building, which lasted approximately 100 years. The figure of the standing Madonna faces sideways. The figure of St Christopher forms its counterpart. Copies now replace the originals in their positions in the Minster.
