Standing Christ Child (Salvator Mundi), Anfang 16. Jh.

About the object

The devotional picture of the naked, standing Christ Child making a gesture of blessing and holding a globe was particularly popular in women's monasteries. Instead of Mary, the nuns turned their motherly care to the Christ Child and dressed it in splendid garments. A garment of this kind is also exists for this example from the Adelhausen monastery.
