Amelie von Wulffen

Actually known for her photographic collages and her painterly and graphic extension to them, the artist Amelie von Wulffen limits herself here in this untitled work from 2016 to the medium of painting and its long tradition. Using art-historical references, she constructs interior and exterior spaces that fuse with one another. The table scene in the right-hand room is inspired by the traditional paintings of the Austrian/Bavarian artist Franz Defregger (1835-1921), who tended to use motifs from everyday rural life.
