Portrait of Kreszentia Faller, née Keßler (1796-1832), um 1830

About the object

Kreszentia Faller, née Keßler, was the wife of the Lenzkirch straw-hat manufacturer, Nikolaus Faller. She came from a family of so-called "Alsace porters" who sold locally-produced, cottage-industry goods in nearby Alsace. The portraits of the Fallers were made about ten years after the birth of their son Franz Josef.
