Portrait of Hermann Staudinger as a Sleeping Child, um 1883

About the object

This portrait of a child shows Hermann Staudinger, who later became a chemist and Nobel Prize winner, asleep on a pillow. His father, Franz Staudinger, was a friend of the artist Friedrich Joseph Nebel and probably commissioned the portraits of his son from him.
