About the object

Comprising coarse brushstrokes, juxtaposed in a spirited manner, the sketch captures the three-quarter-length portrait of a girl turning away. She is sitting on a bench in a tense posture and with her head turned, while the colour generates a sense of flickering animation. After studying in Karlsruhe, the artist became a teacher of drawing in Freiburg.
