About the object
Anna Fedder, who hailed from Russia, bequeathed 200,000 Marks to the City of Freiburg in her will. In her honour, the City Council at the time commissioned Luz to paint this portrait, which he based on a photograph she had owned. The magnificent frame is contemporary and underscores the appreciation felt for the patron’s generosity.
