Twenty years younger than her husband, adorned with a cameos and lace trim, the sitter gives the court painter the opportunity to prove his skill in reproducing fine details. The only daughter of the Mammel family was married to Theodor Leutwein (1849-1921), the commander-in-chief of the ‘Schutztruppe’ (protection force) and temporary governor of German South-West Africa.
