About the object
The motif of Metjetji, royal Egyptian foreman in the 3rd millennium BCE, copied in watercolour, has been freed from its cultural and historical context and placed in a universal context. Herbert Maier's project "who we are" is dedicated to the question of human identity. In his Visual Library Maier has included images that have been stored in memory as individual or collective cultural legacies. The result is a cultural history of mankind from the perspective of a contemporary painter.
