About the object
This gouache documents the townscape before the town’s connection to the railway. A comparison with a later gouache of Tiengen reveals that they also differ in other details, for example, the huntsman’s dog has been omitted. However, the underlying outlines are identical - hence we are dealing with an outline lithograph.
