Rudolf Großmann
Street in Montmartre, 1906 - 1910
About the object
Rudolf Großmann produced a variety of urban scenes during his time in Paris between 1905 and 1913, where he began to study painting under Lucien Simon and quickly became part of the German circle of artists at the Café du Dôme. Especially the district of Montmartre, the most popular artists' quarter in the Belle Époque, caught his attention. The characteristics of the neighborhood with its narrow and steep cobblestone streets, as well as the liveliness of the city are expressed in the etching.
