Rudolf Großmann
Beggar, um 1910
About the object
Rudolf Großmann picks out a specific scene from city life: a beggar, propped up on his crutches, leaning against a tree, or is it a lamp post? It is he whom Großmann brings to life in his drawing, placing him in the centre of the action through the use of colour, setting and marshalling of the line. His surroundings – a carriage, other people – are depicted more schematically and almost blurred at the edges of the composition.
