Rudolf Großmann
Villenstraße in Grunewald (Um Berlin), 1912
About the object
Rudolf Großmann assembled a portfolio featuring Berlin and its environs: spread over a series of ten lithographs, instead of the hustle and bustle at the heart of the big city, we see life on the outskirts of the city – a railway embankment, villa-lined suburban streets, a fairground, allotments, a velodrome. Großmann received the commission from Paul Cassirer, who published them in 1912 with a foreword by Georg Hermann, and who ultimately bore the entrepreneurial risk.
