About the object
The Order of Merit medal was endowed by Elector Karl-Friedrich von Baden as a medal for bravery. Until 1866 it was the highest military award of Baden. This special issue dates from 1948. It was awarded to soldiers who distinguished themselves in the battle against the revolutionaries in Staufen, Kandern, Freiburg and Günterstal.
