About the object
An elegant couple are strolling in the garden by a river. The lady is firmly clasping the neck of her gallant, who is offering her a bouquet of flowers. As a symbol of fidelity, the little dog bows down in front of the couple. The "Five Senses" cycle of paintings takes up an allegorical theme common in the Baroque period. In this instance, love remains the trump card.
