About the object
The identity of the pensive, introverted boy is unknown. So too are most of the details of the artist's life and work. The only thing we know is that she lived with relatives in Freiburg from 1927 until her death, which can be reconstructed from old address books. They also contain a reference to her job title; artist (painter).
