Wilhelm Dürr
Portrait of Hermine Krebs, 1871
About the object
Hermine's portrait is the companion piece to the portrait of her husband Theophil, although it was painted three years earlier. She is posing in a blue satin dress, decorated with Sangallo ruffles. The ring on her finger is in a similar colour to the striking cross that the young woman wears around her neck as a symbol of her faith.
