Johann Baptist Kirner

Boar, shot, vor 1842

About the object

Numerous animal studies suggest the importance Kirner placed on the convincing depiction of animals. The wild boar shot on the hunt is flanked on either side by a fox and a hare. As well as a body position that is as natural as possible, it is above all the materiality of the fur that almost brings these painted carcases to life.
