Upper Girls School on the Holzmarkt (today, Goethegymnasium), 1891

About the object

The girls' secondary school was built in 1890/91 at the expense of the Adelhausen school fund on Holzmarktplatz. The neo-renaissance building, designed by Rudolf Thoma and Matthias Stammnitz, features sculptural decorations by the Freiburg sculptor Julius Seitz (1847-1912). In 1891 Fritz Hase took the picture for the official inauguration of the school building.
