About the object
Eisenbahnstraße (railroad street), laid out in 1861 as a direct connection from the city center to the train station, was the city's first villa district. Professors, manufacturers, doctors and private individuals lived here. The streets were not paved yet. The leveled gravel surface reduced road noise. The picture was taken from the station tower. The Imperial Post Office, built in 1878, can be seen among the buildings on the right
