Eisenbahnstrasse with a view of the railway station, um 1865

About the object

Eisenbahnstraße (railroad street) was the extension of Egelgasse (today Rathausgasse). Hase's photo shows it a few years after construction 1861. The corner building belonged to Josef Wolfinger. Behind the vacant lot was the house of the surgeon and university teacher Albert Schinzinger (1827-1911). As a student fought for the Baden Revolution and lived in exile in London for three years after 1848. The vacant lot was filled by the Hotel Victoria and the telegraph office until 1875.
