This photograph is inscribed with the words “Leapai” and “Polizist”, or police officer, and shows a Sāmoan man in uniform. Leapai may be the man’s given or birth name. He is wearing a European style jacket with a high collar and breast pocket that is buttoned on the side. The photograph was likely taken by John Davis in his studio in Matafele, Apia.
