This photograph depicts a group of men gathered in and around a rock pool. Three of them are wearing German navy uniforms. One of the men is sitting on the steps leading to a hut that reads “Die Thermen des Theodorich, Albatross Bad” - “The thermal pools of Theodorich, Albatross pool”. The pool is likely named after Theodorich the Great, a heroic figure in German folklore who was also known as Dietrich von Bern. Four men, three European and one Sāmoan, are bathing in the rock pool.
