About the object

The art and festival hall dates back to 1845 and was planned by Friedrich Eisenlohr. Begun in 1846, it could not be handed over to its intended purpose until 1854 due to the revolution of 1848/49. The corner house on the left belongs to the Zähringer suburb. The upper bourgeoisie lived in this quarter away from the narrow inner city. The festival hall was built between 1846 and 1854 on the edge of the parade ground of the neighboring Karlkaserne. The person on the far left is Hase's son Fritz.
