About the object
Stadler was a Freiburg jeweler. In the "Ponte Molle" he bore the title "Goldocker" (Golden Ochre) and served as its president for a number of years. His brother Johann Nepomuk was a painter from the Roman Nazarene school and founded the the "Hölderlebad" at the foot of the Lorettoberg in 1841. It was the first lido in Freiburg an the predecessor of today's Loretto baths.
