About the object
The Mukōjima Island was one of the favourite excursion destinations in Edo (later Tokyo). It is celebrated for its row of cherry trees, planted next to the Sumidagawa River. When the cherry trees are in bloom, as seen in this image, the island would be crowded with visitors.
