Two beautifully dressed women are depicted next to a luxurious restaurant. The woman wearing the more elaborate kimono may have been an entertainer who would perform for the guests. The seated women to the left wearing a simpler kimono was most probably a waitress. A wide veranda (engawa) as seen in this photograph is still considered an essential part of traditional Japanese architecture.
