About the object
Basel, Plappart (= 6 Rappen) in accordance with the coinage treaty of the Rappen Coinage League of 1498, with the city arms (Basel Staff) on the obverse and the depiction of Our Lady, patron saint of the cathedral, standing with child on her left arm on the reverse. Coins of the same type were minted in the other mints of the Confederation - Freiburg, Breisach, Colmar and Thann.
