Christian Wentzinger

St Gall, 1757

About the object

Christian Wentzinger from Freiburg was commissioned in 1757 to design and carry out the fittings at the monastery church of St Gallen: ceiling paintings, stuccowork and stone statues on the exterior were carried out by him and his helpers. This statuette of St Gallus is a sculptural design made of wood for the large-scale stone figure of the saint on the facade of the collegiate church.
